Our first remote video production project

New challenges require new solutions.

As everyone knows, COVID-19 and the regulations that came with it changed the way we live our lives and do business radically.

Staying up-to-date in providing new solutions for this new situation was a priority for us from the first minute of the pandemic.

Thanks to this, when Lindsay (an absolutely lovely child-book author from Denmark) reached out to us to produce a Kickstarter promo video for her upcoming book, we were up for the task, even though we knew that we won't even be in the same country.

Planning and pre-production

Through multiple consecutive Zoom meetings we brainstormed and made plans, we fine-tuned the script and did a "virtual location scout" in Lindsay's home, to find the perfect location for the "shoot".

As any kind of delivery had major delays at the time of the project and we were operating on a shoestring budget we decided to design a production that utilized the equipment which was already present. Think about iPhones, tablets, household lights and even an easel as a makeshift tripod.

Filming the interview

Via a Zoom call we helped Lindsay to set up all these devices and the stage, monitored the framing during the recording, and coached her performance through the filming process.

Once our filming session was over, Lindsay uploaded all the recorded files (and some additional family footage that we could use as B-roll) and the editing process got started.

Editing - where everything comes together

Within just a couple of days, the video was ready and after a small revision, it was ready for the campaign launch.

This was the Kickstarter campaign's main video:

And we also created a 1-minute cutdown, to help to promote the campaign through social media too:

Let’s get that book printed!

After a couple of weeks of exciting waiting time, we received a very happy thank you message from Lindsay, where she told us that the campaign was very successful, it reached the goal before the deadline and the book is on its way to the printer.

“During my recent Kickstarter, I hired BFF visuals to help me create a compelling, exciting promotional video to showcase my upcoming board book, the Lovely Haze of Baby Days.

Even though I am based in another country, they were able to remotely guide me with equipment I already had in my home to create an amazing video! (go see it yourself here: https://bit.ly/2RsXMdL

I was completely amazed at what they were able to achieve remotely.

They were professional, creative problem solvers that I would absolutely hire again to help me with a future project, or for advertising.

They were responsive and delivered more than I expected. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering their services.”
